An overnight 150m² resin installation for The White Hart pub garden in Worcestershire, delivered with Apex Commercial and PMW Properties ahead of opening.
The White Hart was in the middle of a major renovation, inside and out. Alongside updating the décor, the owners wanted to make far more of their outdoor space by extending the hard standing, adding an outdoor bar and giving the beer garden a modern feel.
Three contractors worked together to deliver it. PMW Properties, our direct client, carried out the main groundworks. Apex Commercial handled the carpentry and installation. Plex Group was brought in to install the resin surfacing.
Resin had been specified as the hard standing material in the original design. PMW Properties is an experienced contractor, but resin is a specialist trade, and that is where we came in.
The existing area was messy, uneven grass that customers simply couldn't use. With the opening day fast approaching and the weather working against us, there was no room for delay. The only way to hit the deadline was to work through the night.
We planned the installation as an overnight operation, making the most of a dry window and keeping the programme on track.
Final preparations began at 6:00pm, checking that the base was dry, compact and level. The first resin mix went down at 8:00pm, and the team then spent the next seven hours laying the top coat to the standard our clients expect.
Because PMW had already completed the main groundworks, only around 45% of the area needed a new base, which we installed using a rapid-drying base layer. The top coat was then laid in a single continuous session.
The site layout gave us good access, so we set up a mixing station with two forced action mixers close to the work area. All 150m² was laid under artificial lighting.
With a few weeks to spare before the grand opening, The White Hart was ready for handover. Working alongside Apex Commercial and PMW Properties, we delivered an outdoor space that customers can now enjoy for eating, drinking and socialising.
The resin finish is low maintenance and gives the beer garden a clean, modern look that sets it apart and gives local residents a new reason to visit.
