A two-week garden redesign in Moreton-in-Marsh with an Indian sandstone patio, mature yew privacy hedge, relaid lawn and gravel access paths.

Our client in Moreton-in-Marsh had a rear garden that was tired, unsafe and overlooked. Loose patio slabs, a crumbling path and patchy, mossy lawn made it difficult to enjoy, while a neighbouring right of way meant there was never any real privacy. Over two weeks, we redesigned the garden with a new Indian sandstone patio, gravelled access around the flower beds, a relaid lawn and a mature yew hedge that will grow into a dense, natural privacy screen.

The garden was long overdue an update. Patchy, mossy grass ran either side of a deteriorating path linking the two patios, and both patios were full of loose slabs and missing grout. The result looked tired and was a genuine trip hazard.
Privacy was the other big concern. The rear of the property has a right of way for the neighbouring garden, so neighbours could walk past at any moment. Our client wanted a garden that felt like his own.
To solve the privacy problem, we planted a mature yew hedge around the boundary. Over the next couple of years it will fill out into a dense, evergreen screen, giving our client a private space he can relax in without being overlooked.
The old lawn was removed and relaid, along with an old tree stump that had been stunting the grass. The main patio was relaid in Indian sandstone, and the surrounding access areas were gravelled. Rather than skipping the original stones, we reused them as a curved border edging the patio up to the house.

The project was completed over two weeks. Groundworks and waste removal took the first three days, after which the reclaimed edging stones were cut to size and prepared for laying around the new patio.
Areas of muddy, waterlogged grass were replaced with gravel, giving our client firm, practical access to tend his flower beds in any weather. The Indian sandstone patio was laid in two days, with the edging following. Finally, the yew hedging and new turf were planted and watered ready for handover.
Our client now has a private garden that genuinely feels like his own. The new hard standing makes it easy to look after the beds and borders year-round, and there is no longer any worry about loose slabs or crumbling grout. As the yew hedge matures, the garden will only become more secluded.

Fence panels blow out because solid panels catch wind, fixings are weak or the posts had already failed. Plex Group explains the causes and the proper fix across Worcestershire and Gloucestershire.
