Garden Redesign and Golf Simulator Build in Bidford-on-Avon

A three-month garden redesign in Bidford-on-Avon with a new soakaway, patios, paths and turf, plus a bespoke 8m x 6m brick-built golf simulator.

Project Overview

Having just moved into his home in Bidford-on-Avon, our client inherited a garden with serious problems. Poor drainage was flooding the patio in wet weather, the lawn was muddy and mossy, and two old sheds were close to the end of their life. As a keen golfer, he also wanted somewhere to play at home. Over three months, we redesigned the entire garden, starting with a new soakaway to fix the drainage, followed by a 4m tall brick-built golf simulator, new patios, paths, sleepers and turf, plus a new block paved driveway at the front of the property.

The Problem

Our client had just moved in, and the garden had major issues. Poor drainage meant that during wet spells, water flooded onto the patio and towards the house, raising real concerns about damage to the property.

Most of the garden was muddy, mossy turf, and the two old sheds were not going to last much longer. On top of fixing the basics, our client, a keen golfer, wanted a way to play golf at home all year round, and that is why he called Plex.

Our Solution

To tackle the drainage, we installed a soakaway in the centre of the main garden, giving surface water somewhere to go instead of pooling against the house. Both existing fences were replaced, improving access and clearly defining the working area for the build.

We designed a 4m tall, 8m x 6m brick-built golf simulator, secured planning approval from the council, and had the plans for the rest of the hardscaping signed off. At the front of the property, the old driveway was removed and replaced with new block paving.

Project Execution

The project ran over three months. The first month covered the foundations, the concrete base for the simulator and the soakaway installation.

Brickwork then began on the simulator itself, taking four weeks from the first course through to the finished EPDM rubber roof. With the simulator complete, we installed the patios, paths, sleepers and new turf to finish the transformation.

Results

Our client now has a garden that stays dry in even the wettest conditions, with no more water flooding the patio or threatening the house. The new patios, paths and lawn have turned a muddy, unusable space into somewhere he can genuinely enjoy.

The centrepiece is the golf simulator: a solid, brick-built building that lets him play day or night, whatever the weather, and is built to last for generations.
